Responsibilities
A leading sales and marketing company in the wine and spirit business in Nigeria is urgently recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Senior Brand Manager.
Purpose of Job:
To ensure continued profitability and volume growth of the assigned brands through effective, well coordinated planning and prudent/innovative deployment of marketing and fiscal resources.
Nature & Scope of Position:
- The Incumbent is based in the head office at Oregun and reports directly to the Marketing Manager along with Brand Managers, Brand Executives, Brand Assistants.
- The Job holder has the responsibility for ensuring the achievement of the company’s market share, brand equity, gross margin, brand awareness and penetration.
- The Senior Brands Manager is primarily responsible for the development of brands plan and reviews of Seaman’s schnapps.
- The incumbent is expected to manage brands annual budgets, close the gaps and look for opportunities in the market place whilst constantly advising the Marketing Manager accordingly; to maintain/attain overall competitive superiority for the brands.
- The job holder must be well grounded in both the theoretical and practical knowledge of brand management especially in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
- The incumbent is expected to forecast volume sales trend based on planned activities, competitive market situation and other feedbacks. She/he is also expected to liaise regularly with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance Department and other functional units to ensure consistent quality of products and smooth execution of brands/product group programmes
- The job holder contributes to decision on key marketing mix elements through in-depth data analysis of own brands and competition.
- The Senior Brand Manager monitors stock levels of products in his kitty as well as the sales trends, profitability and feeds the Marketing Manager with data for the production planning meeting.
- The Senior Brand Manager also tracks consumer feedback research as well as trade response initiative and threat by brands.
- The job holders is expected to visits markets, trade and area facilities to keep in touch with market developments and identify potential opportunities and threat to the business.
- The incumbent exercises a certain amount of discretion in executing his/her duties, but is required to obtain approval of the Marketing Manager on strategic issues, prior to commitment of company resources.
- The Senior Brand Manager must have strong conceptual ability and lots of creative energy to keep the product group in its portfolio fresh and exciting in the minds of the consuming public.
Key Challenges:
Key challenges that the Senior Brand Manager has to deal with in course of carrying out this role include the challenge of sustaining sharp edge competitive advantage for this product group; prudent deployment of fiscal resources to achieve marketing success against the back drop of escalating cost of marketing communication and the dwindling purchasing power of consumers.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensure achievement of agreed sales volumes and gross margin on the product group to guarantee continuous survival of the company.
- Ensure achievement of planned market share, profitability, awareness and penetration to Guarantee Company’s liquidity and sustain market leadership.
- Ensure efficient deployment of agreed brands spend to achieve agreed level of profitability and brand equity
- Manage and motivate his team to increase their confidence level of vibrancy necessary to drive innovation.
- Ensure the achievement of designated brand image and equity in the market place to sustain competitive superiority.
- Ensure availability of agreed products and stock keeping units (SKUs) to avoid stock out and minimize faking of any pack sizes.

General Requirements
- The job holder must be data driven, comfortable with the Microsoft office suites and be able to develop insights for data
- He or she must hold a B.Sc or HND in any suitable course, an MBA Marketing will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 10 - 12 years work experience, out of which 4 years must be at Brand Manager’s level
- The incumbent must be comfortable with traveling to different part of the country and must be organized to keep track of brand details
