Responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to provide quality underwriting outcomes for the Special Risk underwriting function through effectively maintaining underwriting standards and providing quality client and broker service. Must be multi skilled with the ability to mentor and train junior underwriters and have high technical knowledge. This role manages a team in a technical environment, with some individual deliveries and is individually accountable for achieving results through others.
- Responsible for the management of a unit of technical specialists in support of the business objectives.
- Normal functions pertaining to management (people, production, customer and finance) apply, but in a technical environment. Responsible for technical deliveries themselves (high level of technical knowledge in related field to their own staff).
- Technical skills would relate to a field within the administration ambit. Carries responsibility to deliver on operational projects within field of expertise.
- Manages delivery of specialist team in support of business objectives.
- Responsible to deliver on operational projects within field of expertise.
- May be personally responsible for some technical deliveries.
- Extensive experience in day to day management.
Relationship Building
- Establishes and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders.

General Requirements
Qualifications and Experience- First degree and other relevant professional qualification.
- 5-10 years’ experience,
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge.
- Sound business knowledge.
- Management experience advantageous.
