Responsibilities

  • The Chief Engineer assumes responsibility for safety, financial, logistical and operational aspects of maintenance activities and in responsible for the competence of those under his immediate supervision.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Implementation of Management System; Promote safety awareness and application of company Management System, COPs and prime policies.
  • Manage the operation of the vessel systems at department level through supervisors and subordinate staff; Ensure probationary and annual appraisals are completed fairlyand consistently in timely manner; Manage welfare and disciplinary issues at departmental level with appropriate reference to OIM and Fleet HR. 3).
  • Efficient operation of unit systems having due regard for Health and safety; Ensure full compliance with PTW system, and Risk assessment and verification;
  • Ensure full compliance with Class, Flag and Port State requirements, preserving the vessels operational status.
  • Effective supervision of project, sub contract and vendor personnel; Efficiency improvement and pursuance of company goals; Responsible for condition monitoring, maintenance and repair of vessel and process systems; Manage parts control, inventories storage record keeping, shipping and receiving by use of AMOS. 4

General Requirements

  • Proven experience and ‘results-oriented career and/or HND or Degree equivalents in appropriate engineering subject, or STCW Reg. AIIII2 Chief Engineer unlimited, (motor and steam endorsement preferred) or equivalent.
  • 5 years minimum as Maintenance Superintendent (or Operations Office based equivalent); Experience and knowledge of Safety Management in hydrocarbon processing operations; Experience and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and utility systems, preferred; Supervisory experience of Permit to Work, Mechanical/Electrical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessment.
  • Medically ft to offshore International standards such as ENG1 or equivalent; Appropriate standard of managerial, technical, and professional knowledge as defined by competences; Good knowledge and skill with Maintenance Management System interface.
  • Practical familiarity with standard Office software package. Operation and use of Internet and electronic mail system.
